Expands Atlas’ ability to effect business transformation and underscores Atlas’s commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) best practices
GREENWICH, Connecticut, October 6, 2021– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Atlas Holdings (âAtlasâ) today announced the appointment of Peter Taschner to the newly created role of Director, Safety and Engineering. Taschner brings a unique skill set and decades of operational experience to Atlas, having spent his career in leadership roles in security, engineering and operations for leading global companies. The creation of this role expands Atlas ‘internal capabilities to effect business transformation and underscores Atlas’ core tenet – that world-class workplace safety is paramount in every one of its businesses.
Taschner’s previous roles include Director of DuPont’s renowned Safety Resource business, Vice President of Operations at Dresser-Rand, Vice President of Safety and Health at Archer-Daniels-Midland, Senior Vice President of Support Technical at Teva Pharmaceuticals and, more recently, Head of Global Engineering at Sanofi Pasteur.
âWhile the safety of every team member has always been our top priority at Atlas, we recognize that our journey to achieving sustained world-class performance requires dedicated expertise and leadership. Adding Pete to the Atlas team brings us this ‘next level’ leader and we are delighted that he has taken on this new role, âsaid Andrew Bursky, co-founder and managing partner of Atlas.
âPete is the latest example of Atlas adding seasoned subject matter experts to strengthen and expand our business transformation resources so that we can better support our businesses, improve our operations and drive value creation,â said Tim Fazio, co-founder and managing partner of Atlas. . “We are delighted to have Pete’s vast experience and abilities added to the Atlas team.”
âWorker safety has been a long-standing pillar of Atlas culture; it is at the heart of who we are and we remain tireless in our efforts to ensure that each of our associates comes home safely every day, âsaid Jacob Hudson, Managing Partner of Atlas. “Pete shares this commitment and has a remarkable record of strengthening and improving operations at some of the most successful companies in the world.”
Taschner’s appointment is the latest in a long history of initiatives aimed at realizing Atlas’s commitment to industrial safety – a central part of the Atlas operating system and ESG strategy since the early years of the business. In 2007, Atlas formed its first B2B Atlas Security Committee – the forerunner of what is now a robust security program that connects security leaders in each of its portfolio companies for shared learning and responsibility. In 2016, Atlas created the Atlas Safety Council, which brought together Atlas’s growing portfolio of companies in geographically and industrially logical areas, led by senior operating executives within Atlas companies. The Atlas Safety Council has become Atlas’ official channel for sharing best practices, fostering better EH&S communication, delivering a safety-focused site audit, and developing measurable safety plans.
âWhile we believe the Atlas Safety Council has dramatically improved safety performance, benchmarking against our peers has never been an appropriate measure of success for us in this area,â Sam said. Astor, partner at Atlas. âOur focus has been and will continue to be firmly on preventing serious injuries and fatalities in our operations, rather than relying solely on recordable incident rates. We are grateful that Pete is joining our team and helping us lead this charge. “
âI am excited to join Atlas, a team that has made industrial safety not just a message but a core business value for over two decades. For me, being committed to the well-being of every team member is a commitment to continuous improvement and I look forward to working in all of Atlas companies as we strive to ensuring that all businesses operate safely every day, âTaschner said.
