EIGHTH PLACE CROSS-COUNTRY TEAMS AT NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Manchester, NH – Redshirt rookie Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee) placed 15th to lead the Le Moyne College men’s cross country team to eighth place at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Sunday afternoon on the Saint Anselm College campus. Senior Samantha pellegrini (Loudonville, NY / Colony) finished in 29th place to lead the women’s team to eighth place.

On the men’s side, American International College won their second straight conference championship and fifth of the last seven championships with 28 points after having five of the top 10 runners, including the top two. Southern Connecticut State University placed second with 38 points with five of the top 12. Stonehill College finished in third place with 99 points, ending its streak of 18 consecutive top-two rankings. The Dolphins recorded 238 points to finish in eighth place. American International’s Ezra Mutai won his second straight individual conference championship with a time of 24:28 to give the Yellow Jackets their 12th straight individual champion.

American International won its first conference championship with 40 points after getting three of the top seven. Stonehill saw his streak of 11 consecutive conference championships interrupted after finishing in second place with 52 points after having four of the top 11. Southern New Hampshire University took third place with 64 points. The Dolphins scored 246 points to place eighth. American International’s Fransiscah Cherotich won the individual conference championship crossing the finish line in a record time of 21:21.

In the men’s race, Bartolotta won the Northeast-10 Conference Third All-Star honors after completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:39. First year Redshirt Nick berg (Minoa, NY / East Syracuse-Minoa) was the second runner-up to finish placing 33rd in 27:41. First year Redshirt Jeremy plumley (Camden, New York / Camden) posted a time of 28:47 to place 62nd, while junior Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was 76th in 29:12, an improvement of one place and 88 seconds from the 2019 championship. Freshman Jack gibson (Ilion, NY / Central Valley Academy) rounded out the team’s five scorers by placing 92nd in 29:44.

Pellegrini recorded his best result at the NE10 Championships with 29th place, clocking 24:32 on the six-kilometer course. First-year student Hilda Kiprono (Eldoret, Kenya / Kapsabet Girls’ High School) finished 39th in 25:08, while rookie redshirt Sophie bisognano (Albany, NY / Colony) crossed the finish line in 25:26 to place 48th. Junior Camryn cortez (Syracuse, NY / Westhill) clocked 26:34 to place 75th. Redshirt second year Amanda winn (Baldwinsville, NY / Christian Brothers Academy / Niagara) completed the ‘Phins’ scorers placing 89th in 27:12.

The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, November 6 at the NCAA East Regional at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails on the Roberts Wesleyan College campus in Rochester.
