Georgia is taking a number of important steps towards the digitalization of agriculture, Georgian Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia told an international conference, Tendency reports via the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
At the international conference Vision for the Future: Transition to Digital Agriculture, Shamugia noted that Georgia’s key achievements in agricultural digitalization are:
– operation of an electronic system for exchanging information with farmers and entrepreneurs, registration of the grape harvest on the basis of a unified electronic platform;
– issuing certificates and permits through electronic systems;
– development of digital platforms to improve extension services ;:02
– registration of pastures and display on a digital map by the State Public Registry Agency of Georgia.
“We are actively discussing issues such as satellite and aerial crop photography, identifying water shortages in agricultural crops and identifying uncultivated land,” Shamugia added.
The international conference Vision for the future: transition to digital agriculture was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
