Note that this conference was to be held on the theme “Current trends in science, engineering and technology”.

The Registrar of the University of Karachi himself was the main organizer of the conference while the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naisra Khatoon, as Dean of Science, was the sponsor.

Professor Ansari said in the letter quoted by the newspaper: “We had tried to hold the conference according to schedule, but things were not going as we wanted. Interestingly, last month three Chinese teachers and their local driver were killed in a suicide bombing outside the University of Karachi.

The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the incident.
